BL196 Open-Toe Ballroom & Latin Dance Shoes • 2.5" Flared Heel
A little sparkle, a classic dance silhouette and an easy-to-wear open toe make the So Danca BL196 Ballroom & Latin Dance Shoes a versatile choice for dancers who want something more decorative than a plain practice shoe. Designed for the dance floor rather than simply for appearance, BL196 works comfortably across lessons, social dancing and a wide mix of Ballroom and Latin styles.
So Danca BL196 Personality
Classic • Sparkling • Feminine • Social-Dance Ready
Silver/Black has the stronger personality of the two. Bright silver sparkle wraps around the heel and sweeps diagonally across the forefoot against a clean black base, creating a graphic, slightly retro ballroom look that becomes especially effective under evening lighting.
Black/Sparkle is the quieter option. Tonal black panels keep the shoe understated from a distance, while the textured sparkle catches the light as the foot moves. It is an easy choice for dancers who want some shimmer without committing to a metallic shoe.
So Danca BL196 Ballroom & Latin Shoes – Design & Performance
BL196 combines an open-toe front with shaped crossover panels rather than using multiple narrow straps across the toes. The wider sections create useful coverage around the forefoot, while inset fabric and mesh sections allow the upper to contour around the foot without looking heavy.
The slim straps cross diagonally over the instep and secure around the ankle, helping connect the front and back of the shoe while allowing the hold to be adjusted. A decorative buckle adds a small finishing detail without dominating the overall design.
Underfoot, a cushioned insole adds comfort for longer classes and social sessions, while the carefully angled shank supports the shoe's balance through the heel and forefoot. The 2.5" / 6.35 cm flared heel provides classic Ballroom and Latin height with a broader base than a very slim competition heel.
A full suede dance sole completes the construction, providing the controlled grip and glide needed for turns, pivots and travelling movement on suitable indoor dance floors.

Dance World Notes
BL196 gives a little more coverage than many open-toe dance sandals.
The shaped forefoot panels wrap farther around the sides of the foot than a very strappy Latin sandal, which can appeal to dancers who like an open toe without feeling overly exposed.
Dance World Fit Advice
Overall Fit
BL196 has a standard/medium dance-shoe fit and is generally true to size. Start with your regular UK shoe size. The heel should remain secure and the forefoot should sit comfortably within the front of the shoe without sliding forwards.
Social Dancers
The crossed straps allow the hold through the instep to be adjusted, making BL196 a useful option for dancers who prefer more security than a minimal Latin sandal.
BL196 Fit Note
Check the position of the shaped front panels carefully. They should sit smoothly around the forefoot without cutting into the sides, while the toes remain comfortably positioned over the sole rather than extending beyond it.
Dance World sizing recommendations are intended as a starting point. Dance shoe fit is individual and can vary with foot width, toe shape, instep height and personal preference.
